MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT: Getting ready for gratitude and giving
Dear Chamber Family,
November is here and off to just the right start!
We started November off with our first ever State of Giving, in which Pierce Bush discussed the state of our phenomenal nonprofits and the services they are giving in this day and age.
Such an event at the start of the month is symbolic of what is on your chamber’s mind in November: gratitude and giving. With Thanksgiving season here, your chamber encourages you to practice gratitude while thinking of ways you can give in your community. This is the time to support your amazing nonprofits as we all gear up for Giving Tuesday.
Speaking of ways to give, let us not forget the importance of giving your voice in our society by casting your vote. Voting season is here and Election Day is near. Get out there and cast your vote to ensure your voice is heard in the elections of our future leaders.
Don’t forget you have the opportunity to sail and dine with your region’s leaders at our second annual Yachting With the Mayors. This is the chance to enjoy wonderful food on the sea while meeting the wonderful mayors of our region’s cities.
Additionally, I encourage people to attend our upcoming State of the Legislature. This comes as your chamber gears up for its trip to Austin for the 88th Legislative Session. Your chamber makes this trip every year to ensure your voice is heard and that the interests of our businesses and community are kept in mind at all government levels.
On that note about community, I hope to see many at our Health & Wellness Expo, which will show all the organizations dedicated to health in our region. Our previous Health & Wellness Expo have had phenomenal attendance and even provided flu shots to our attendees. I look forward to this years expo.
I have always said that when you shop, shop local and shop chamber. With that being said, I stand by this and encourage everyone to support your local and small businesses during the holiday season and on Black Friday.
I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.
Finally, as the year nears its end, I want to welcome our new Board of Directors and express gratitude to my chamber staff, previous board of directors, and chamber family and community for helping make our community and chamber what it is. It is through the efforts of our collective community that we not only display Unity in our community, but also show how we are Stronger Together.
